SIKKIM, a small Himalayan State lying between 27 to 28 degrees North latitude and 88 to 89 degrees East longitude is the second smallest state in India. Sikkim is a dream that one can realize and enjoy, now that the area is open to all. It is a state cloaked in the mystery of remoteness, and far away from the din and bustle of the modern world. It is a place full of Buddhist monasteries, landscapes, flora & fauna.

The magical lure of Sikkim has always been attracting people all over the world. Its legendry mountains, landscape that defy imagination, all culminates into a masterpiece of the Creator. Famous for Kanchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world at 8,586m, the mountain kingdom of Sikkim has a tremendous variety of plant and wildlife besides a diverse ethnic mix of peoples with rich cultural traditions.

Ethically Sikkim has mainly three groups of people viz. Nepalis, Bhutias, Lepchas. The local language is Nepali. English is the official language. This jewel- like mountain state of ethereal beauty with an area of 7299 sq. kms , nestles in the heart of Himalayas. Cradled in the manifold splendors of nature deep within the snow clad Himalayas is Sikkim's capital Gangtok.

Sikkim is mainly divided into four parts. One can enjoy the places in the beautiful city and capital of Sikkim lying in the East part -like Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Tashi View Point, Tsomgo Lake, Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre, Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies, Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology.

In North Sikkim you can enjoy the beautiful valley of flowers- Yumthang and can extend your journey by visiting Gurudongmar lake, Lachen, Lachung, Chopta Valley. West Sikkim offers you the beautiful Pemayangtse (pelling) ,Ravangla  Reshi, Nathula Pass. South Sikkim is a gateway to places like Namchi, Temi-tea Garden.

Darjeeling : The beautiful land of Darjeeling, the "land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that away for the shows of the rest of the world combined.".Adjacent to and surrounded by small Asian countries as Burma , Bangladesh , Tibet , Nepal and Bhutan , this beautiful "Queen of the Himalayan Region" is not only one of the biggest tea producers of India but is also abundantly enriched with natural beauty.

Kalimpong : Nestles in the lush green mid ranges of the Himalayas , this hill station of "the Raj", has an incredible stunning backdrop of towering snow capped peaks. Kalimpong is an exotic town of beautiful people, mystical and enchanting, with a rare ethnic blend of hill people, has a tradition of hospitality from the days of the mule caravans of olde.

How to Get there:

Gangtok : The capital city Gangtok is connected by all weather road to Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Slinger and also to all the District headquarters within Sikkim. Two nearest railway station are at Siliguri (114 km) and New Jalpaiguri (125 km) stabilizing link to Calcutta, Delhi, Guwahati, Lucknow and other important cities in India. Nearest airport is Bagdogra in North Bengal( 124 km).

By Air : The closest Indian Airport is at Bagdogra,124 km from Gangtok, where scheduled flights operates to and fro from Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati. One can fly by 1.) Air Deccan  2.) Indian Airlines 3.) Jet Airways.

Travel time from the airport to Gangtok is 4 hours by road. Bagdogra Airport is 11 km west of Siliguri.

By Rail : The closest Railhead is at New Jalpaiguri which is around 148 km away from Gangtok. It is connected to Kolkata (Calcutta), New Delhi, Guwahati and other major Indian cities.

From the station you can hire and reserve a taxi and came to Gangtok. Or you can come in a pejo( jeep) on sharing basis.

By Road : Gangtok is at a distance of 110 km from Siliguri and will take 4 hours from Siliguri to reach Gangtok .Gangtok is connected by road with Darjeeling (4 hrs), and with Bhutan, Phuntsholing (6 hrs).
